Volunteer Driver

Our Homework Helper volunteers work one to one to with a child or youth to provide academic support and motivation with, reading, writing, assignments, and homework. This can build confidence and a sense of future educational achievements. Our volunteer might also engage the child/youth in activities and community events. This role supports the child as well as provides respite to parents. &nbsp;Description We are seeking volunteers who can provide support as a homework helper for children/youth in Kitchener &amp; Cambridge. Ideal volunteers will have some tutoring experience, but they should be patient, have good rapport with children/youth and be flexible. They will assist child/youth with learning challenges including reading, writing, homework and studying. Provide a non-judgmental listening ear. Visit the child on a regular, consistent basis and on agreed upon dates and times. Build a positive relationship and be a positive role model. Maintain confidentiality and boundaries.&nbsp;

Georgina Social & Wellness Program Volunteer Drivers

At Family &amp; Children's Services of the Waterloo Region, Volunteer Drivers provide transportation services for a variety of family needs. This could include driving children to/from school, going to a program or access visit with family or simply helping a child get to an appointment or activity. Do you have some extra time in your week, a reliable vehicle, and looking to make a difference in your community? Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region is currently taking applications for VOLUNTEER DRIVERS to assist our youngest community members and their families.You will provide transportation as a key component to creating a network of support for families and children. Help others and make new connections, while having your mileage reimbursed! You must have - a G license with a good driving record - a vehicle in safe working condition - 1 million dollars in liability insurance on your vehicle. We will work with your availability to volunteer. Child car seat training and car seats are provided. Onboarding and Orientation is required for all positions. We require volunteers to undergo a Police Records Check, Child Welfare Check and a Reference Check due to the nature of the positions in a vulnerable sector.&nbsp;

Volunteer Mentors help children/youth build resiliency and provide support as they work through significant milestones in life. Aside from the satisfaction of have a lasting a positive impact on the life of a child/youth, mentors have fun too! Volunteers build long-lasting relationships with the child/youth they are matched with.Description Volunteers Mentors support children/youth 4 to 18 yrs. A volunteer will: - Work with the child/youth to plan age-appropriate activities in the community on a regular basis. - Also work on goals established by the child/youth and family. - Support that reinforces the child/youth’s culture and identity, is respectful and affirming and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the agency. Volunteers should: - have good listening skills - strong sense of commitment - a willingness to work collaboratively and respectfully with the child/youth, Staff, and family members. We are currently prioritizing volunteers who can drive children/youth as part of the role.
