Mental Health &amp; Justice: Housing Support Services is seeking a full-time Housing Support Worker to provide housing support to individuals aged 16 or older who have a serious mental illness/concurrent disorder, are in conflict with the law, and living in the community. The Housing Support Worker will assist with the securing of appropriate housing within the community, liaise with landlords, and advocate on behalf of clients. Support and instruction will be provided to individuals as needed, to facilitate learning and maintaining activities of daily living which endeavour to prevent future involvement with the criminal justice system and retain housing. The Housing Support Worker will assist clients to develop their strengths, promote wellness and housing stability, and improve their quality of life.QualificationsCandidates must have a university degree/college diploma in social work or social service worker with experience in the mental health field and/or addictions and housing. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of related housing experience and must be registered or eligible for registration in a professional college or association. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the use of a reliable vehicle. The Settlement Worker will provide&nbsp; newcomers with knowledge of life in Canada that is essential to full settlement and integration, including becoming a Canadian citizen. The Settlement Worker will assist in carrying out the administrative operations for the Settlement and orientation program in accordance with the standards set out by the organization and its funder IRCC.&nbsp;This position will appeal to a team player who is skilled in customer service and multi-tasking in a fast-paced community-based social service agency with an emphasis on goal achievement and delivering customer-centric service.Duties &amp; Responsibilities<ul><li>Conduct eligibility assessments for clients as the main first start point through the intake and assessment process to identify immediate, short, medium and long-term settlement needs of the newcomers. </li><li>Provide comprehensive one-on-one case management and counselling to eligible clients&nbsp;requesting information concerning: advocacy, translation &amp; interpretation and civic participation and community engagement, orientation, referral (internally and to appropriate programs/services within the community) and non-therapeutic counselling regarding services such as health care, housing, employment, training and education, legal aid, finance, social services, etc. </li><li>Provide information about immigration application guidelines and transcribe client information into forms as necessary </li><li>Provide initial crisis intervention/mental health support when required with appropriate referrals </li><li>Ensure clients satisfaction and that all clients and the community feedback and concerns are addressed in a timely manner and recorded according to NEW’s policies and procedures</li><li>Develop or combine a monthly fact sheet research on the new immigration updates , programs and be able to update the resource list based on that.</li><li>Develop yearly, quarterly and monthly work plan and activities </li><li>Plan, organize and facilitate group workshops and orientation sessions that support clients in understanding and integrating into Canadian society, practices and procedures; advice on way of life, institutions, laws, rights, responsibilities, civic participation, etc. </li><li>Plan, prepare and evaluate appropriate material for group facilitation &amp; workshops in collaboration with other teams and programs within the agency. </li><li>Collect statistics; submit weekly and monthly reports and input client data into iCARE and other internal databases, including but not limited to, OCMS and Excel. </li><li>Ensure that all records are kept confidential and secure. </li><li>Develop individualized outreach plans for each assigned service locations in collaboration with other NEW’s programs or external service providers</li><li>Conduct program promotion in community social landmarks Actively participates in program’s community development activities including advocacy, outreach and community engagement and empowerment activities </li><li>Network with other staff, attends staff meetings &amp; agency events including staff social events, community events and agency committees </li><li>Assist in creating an annual Programs/ webinars/workshops calendar and promote our program offerings to newcomer women</li><li>Prepare, administer and complete file intake and registration forms for our programs and clients</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure seamless delivery of services to our members</li><li>Cover the front desk and perform Other duties assigned.&nbsp;</li></ul>Newcomer Settlement and Orientation Services&nbsp;<ul><li>Perform client service registration, data input into OCMS and ICARE regarding registration particulars</li><li>Collect data on national, regional or local level settlement information.
