Our Homework Helper volunteers work one to one to with a child or youth to provide academic support and motivation with, reading, writing, assignments, and homework. This can build confidence and a sense of future educational achievements. Our volunteer might also engage the child/youth in activities and community events. This role supports the child as well as provides respite to parents. &nbsp;Description We are seeking volunteers who can provide support as a homework helper for children/youth in Kitchener &amp; Cambridge. Ideal volunteers will have some tutoring experience, but they should be patient, have good rapport with children/youth and be flexible. They will assist child/youth with learning challenges including reading, writing, homework and studying. Provide a non-judgmental listening ear. Visit the child on a regular, consistent basis and on agreed upon dates and times. Build a positive relationship and be a positive role model. Maintain confidentiality and boundaries.&nbsp;

This role will support the operations of our winter program hours. The Drop-In Program Worker works with the drop-in team to ensure the smooth operation of the Drop-In program and its related services to PARC members (a member is defined as any or all of the following: psychiatric survivor, marginalized, homeless/under-housed or socially isolated person).&nbsp;ResponsibilitiesDrop-In Program Worker carries out a variety of duties during drop-in operations direct/personal member support, crisis interventions, responding to member concerns and making recommendations for further support activity and running small group activities and recreational programs as assigned. Drop-In Program Worker carries out various assigned tasks supporting different aspects of the weekend or weekday drop-in program on a shift by shift basis.&nbsp; &nbsp;Drop-In Program Worker provides support and friendly contact for all members using the centre. The Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard (GEFC) is a small, registered charity and Ottawa Food Bank member agency serving Beacon Hill–Cyrville. With support from donors and volunteers, we provide healthy food to residents in our catchment area, typically once per month. In 2024, we served more than 4,100 people—about 12% of the community. We also grow fresh produce through a community garden and volunteer-run farm plot/greenhouse, and we offer programs such as Summerlunch+ in collaboration with partners.
