Position Overview: 

Easter Seals Ontario (ESO) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Engagement Officer. 
This role is integral to helping develop and implement purposeful engagement to meet and identify the 
needs of our clients and service users while ensuring effective interaction. 

Duties &amp; Responsibilities: 

 • Ambassador Program: 20% 
 

o Assist with the annual application and selection process of Easter Seals Ontario Provincial 
Ambassadors. 

o Act as a liaison between Easter Seals Ontario, staff and Ambassadors/families. 
o Organize and maintain a schedule and travel arrangements for speaking engagements at 

special events. 
 

 • Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) Recruitment and Training: 30% 
 

o Organize bi-monthly virtual meetings with ESO SEAC representatives across Ontario. 
o Prepare agendas and take minutes. 
o Collect updates from ESO SEAC representatives to provide to the Minister's Advisory 

Council on Special Education (MACSE) 3 times per year. 
o Attend monthly virtual meetings with the Provincial Parent Association Advisory Committee 

on SEAC (PAAC on SEAC). 
o Share all Ministry of Education updates with ESO SEAC representatives. 
o Recruit parent volunteers for SEAC positions across the province. 
o Provide on-boarding training sessions and specific training as needed and support SEAC 

representatives in their roles. 
o Report and/or elevate pertinent issues to the Senior Manager, Services as necessary. 

 
 • Scholarship Program: 25% 

 
o Assist with the development and posting of the annual scholarship application process. 
o Promote ESO scholarships via school boards, post-secondary accessibility services 

departments, scholarship posting sites, and other organizations. 
o Review and manage scholarship applications from submission to awarding recipients. 
o Follow up with successful applicants to ensure compliance with the scholarship application 

criteria (thank you letter to donor, proof of tuition and payments). 


o Confirm attendance of scholarship recipients at Annual General Meeting and assist with 
script content. 
 

 • Other Initiatives 25% 
 

o Family Engagement 
 

âª Assist with the creation of client and family surveys to determine need and impact. 
âª Connect with newly registered ESO families, providing a point of contact. 

 
o Red Shirt Day and National Accessibility Week 

 
âª Work in partnership with the Red Shirt Day committee to ensure information is 

disseminated in a timely manner to interested parties. 
âª Engage schools and families to participate in RSD and NAAW and provide 

necessary resource information. 
 

o Community Engagement 
 

âª Help to build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, 
advocacy groups and other partners and encourage collaboration. 

âª Participate in community events and activities to raise awareness to support Easter 
Seals Ontario’s mission. 
 

Qualifications: 
 

 • Minimum of 5 years of experience in family or community engagement, advocacy, or a related 
field. 

 • Strong understanding of disability community and services available. 
 • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. 
 • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 
 • Strong organizational and project management skills. 

Hours of Work &amp; Working Conditions: 

 • Hybrid Work Schedule (occasional weekend and evening work will be required)

The Dish With One Spoon is a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee.Together with campus partners and the broader community, CCF provides education, case management and advocacy to foster a world free from gender-based violence. CCF creates opportunities for students affected by violence to cultivate safety, healing and leadership on their own terms. We believe that students affected by sexual and gender-based violence should guide their healing process and we are here to listen and provide options in a trauma-informed way. We know that survivors are targeted for, heal from, and address sexual violence and gender-based violence differently as this is shaped by their intersecting social locations, e.g. class, sexuality, citizenship status and gender expression. Our services are available to all students of the TMU community regardless when and where the violence occurred.&nbsp;The OpportunityThe successful candidate will have a dual role within the Consent Comes First (CCF) office at Toronto Metropolitan University. As part of their responsibilities, they will take the lead in supporting SafeSay, a new anonymous disclosure platform launching in 2026 that provides confidential information and guidance to TMU students affected by sexual violence and gender-based violence (SV/GBV). SafeSay is not a reporting mechanism, but rather a low-barrier support option that allows students to explore their rights, available services, and possible next steps on their own terms. The successful candidate will host the platform for part of their week, with the support of the CCF team, and help shape best practices in anonymous, trauma-informed support. The remainder of the role involves providing direct support to students through case management services. Under the guidance of the Associate Director, this position plays a critical role in fostering a campus where consent comes first and survivors are supported with care, dignity, and respect. SummaryThe ANCHOR Team is an innovative pilot project that will provide a community-based, non-police response and follow-up for individuals experiencing crises in the Centretown and Somerset West catchment areas. The project is a collaborative initiative. Partners include Centretown and Somerset West Community Health Centre, the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Guiding Council on Mental Health and Addictions, Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario (CNEO) and other community stakeholders.&nbsp;Reporting to the Manager, ANCHOR Team, and under the supervision of Team Leads, the Crisis Response Workers are responsible for direct response to calls for service as assessed and triaged by operators at 911 and 211.&nbsp;The ANCHOR pilot will bring staff from two community health centres together as one team. Both CHCs are committed to working together in an integrated fashion to ensure seamless coordinated supervision of and support to staff, and care to clients.&nbsp; This position will require evening, overnight and weekend shifts.The Crisis Response workers (CRWs) will work directly with individuals who either self-identify or whose behaviours indicate they are experiencing a crisis related to their mental health, substance use or both. The CRWs will use&nbsp; anti-racist, anti-oppressive and harm reduction frameworks in assessing, de-escalating and responding to situations they encounter. Exercising sound clinical judgement, coupled with a high level of mental health and substance use experience and de-escalation skills, the CRW ensures excellent client care and community responsiveness.&nbsp;The CRW’ s primary responsibility is to provide an urgent, compassionate response to people facing multiple barriers to care due to inequities related to social determinants of health, who would benefit from a community-based response and are not in need of intervention from police or paramedics. The CRW engages individuals and assesses the appropriate level of intervention and support required. The CRW- ANCHOR is skilled at systems navigation and has a high level of knowledge of the key resources and services available to support the needs and goals of clients. They are skilled at advocating with and for clients to ensure equitable access to care and support.
