About NCP

NCP is a community-focused non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families through accessible programs and services. Our reception area is often the first point of contact for the people we serve, and our volunteers play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming experience.

Role Overview

As a Reception & Administrative Support Volunteer, you will assist our front-of-house team with a variety of day-to-day administrative tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, organized, and enjoys helping others. No two days are exactly the same — you might be greeting visitors in the morning and helping with data entry in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors, clients, and staff at the reception area
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner
  • Respond to general email inquiries or forward to the appropriate team member
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing meeting room bookings
  • Perform general data entry, filing, and document management tasks
  • Prepare, sort, and distribute incoming mail and correspondence
  • Support staff with photocopying, scanning, and printing as needed
  • Maintain a tidy and organized reception and common areas
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for events, meetings, or programs
  • Provide general administrative support as directed by office staff

What We're Looking For

  • Friendly, approachable manner with strong interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy (email, word processing, spreadsheets)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to agreed volunteer hours
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Previous office, reception, or customer service experience is an asset but not required
  • Comfort working in a busy, people-centred environment

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on administrative and reception experience in a non-profit setting
  • Opportunity to build professional skills including communication, organization, and time management
  • A chance to make a meaningful contribution to your local community
  • A supportive team environment with training and ongoing guidance provided
  • A volunteer reference letter upon request, following satisfactory service
