JOB PURPOSE 
As a key member of the Student Wellbeing team, the Social Worker will work with students and 
their families within our Middle School division, with the objective of optimizing their overall 
wellbeing at school. Reporting to the Associate Head, Wellbeing, the Social Worker will have a 
comprehensive understanding of the psychosocial needs of young children, and will support 
students and families in addressing the social, behavioural, and emotional factors which impact a 
student's overall school experience. 
 
This role follows a 10âmonth work schedule aligned with the academic year, working from 
late August to late June each year and is off during the summer. 
 
Given the dynamic and collaborative nature of our school environment, this role is an on-campus 
position requiring to be on-campus five days a week. Candidates should be prepared to 
contribute actively to this in-person, community-focused environment. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

â Consultation with students, parents and faculty; provide guidance and assistance in 
support of the psychosocial health and well-being of students 

â Provide individual, group and family counselling 
â Conduct assessments of students’ needs 
â Support the enhancement of partnerships with community agencies and outside 

professionals to ensure optimal support for students and the school community; liaise 
with community agencies as required 

â Provide crisis intervention services 
â Develop and facilitate groups for students 
â Establish a visible and approachable presence in the Middle School community 
â Participate in team meetings and regular planning regarding individual case management 

and school-wide programs 
â Manage and maintain student records and caseload ensuring services are integrated and 

seamless 
â Understand, and practice in accordance with, federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, 

and/or policies that relate to students and families; such as, child protection/child abuse, 
special education, attendance, education rights and privacy 

â Participate in The York School events, and contribute to the health and wellbeing within 
the community 


 
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

â Masters degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and membership in good standing with the 
Ontario College of Social Workers 

â Minimum 5 years’ experience, including experience working in an educational and clinical 
settings with children 

â Knowledge of the Social Work and Social Service Work Act, The Child and Family 
Services Act, Education Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Mental Health Act 

â Ability to identify, assess and respond to sensitive and confidential student and 
community issues 

â Proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, 
contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture 

â Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
â Strong ability to engage collaboratively with students, parents, and staff, prioritizing a 

service-oriented approach by ensuring professionalism, respect, and responsiveness in 
all interactions

WHAT WE OFFER 
The target hiring range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 per year, based on skills,

As an internationally recognized inclusive masculinity program, WiseGuyz benefits significant academic&nbsp;research partnerships.&nbsp;Boys Program is an elementary school program where participants explore their lives and critically examine gender norms and expectations through experiential activities and group discussion.As our successful candidate you will:&nbsp;Program Administration:<ul><li>Adhere to the program schedules, bookings and logistics for program sessions.&nbsp; </li><li>Assist with bookings, scheduling, and logistics for program sessions. </li><li>Follow organization’s policies and procedures and program guidelines.&nbsp; </li><li>Draft communication for internal and external stakeholders as required. </li><li>Prepare and update materials, ensuring program resources are current and readily available. </li><li>Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, team meetings, training, and other initiatives. </li><li>Offer assistance to the communications staff with input on program promotional material including posters, brochures, and all other types of print and online media.</li><li>Follow the established workplan, seeking clarification where required.</li></ul>Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:<ul><li>Collect and maintain program data. </li><li>Provide input on reports related to program activities and outcomes. </li><li>When requested, participate in program evaluations. </li><li>Provide feedback on curriculum and contribute to curriculum updates and reviews.&nbsp; </li><li>Participate in ongoing program monitoring, evaluation and improvement.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Program Planning and Implementation:&nbsp;<ul><li>Facilitate programs using best practices in school-based settings with boys in elementary and and young men in Junior high, in-person and online.</li><li>Facilitate the WiseGuyz and Boys programs in community using curriculum tailored to specific community settings.</li><li>Review program materials and content and, if required, adapt to align with the needs the audience.</li><li>Create safe and inclusive learning environments, sharing insights and providing feedback to participants.</li></ul>Community Engagement:<ul><li>Promote the Centre for Sexuality as a leader in programs and services for sexual health.</li><li>Represent the organization/program at internal and external meetings, events, and booths.</li><li>Attend parent/teacher nights at schools to promote and answer questions about WiseGuyz program when possible. </li><li>Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and school partners.</li><li>Respond to requests for information about the program in a professional and timely manner.</li></ul>Training and Development:<ul><li>Participate in Community Connect YYC Community of Practice and peer learning opportunities.</li><li>Stay updated on emerging research and best practices in&nbsp;social-emotional learning, sexual health promotion, gender equity and masculinity, relationship education and violence prevention. </li><li>Participate in program observations in support of professional development and program fidelity. </li><li>Engage in reflective practices to enhance professional growth. </li><li>Participate in annual performance development and growth planning process.&nbsp; </li><li>Demonstrate organizational values in the delivery of work and to inform decision-making.&nbsp;</li></ul>Partnership Engagement and Relationship Management:&nbsp;<ul><li>Maintain and nurture current partnerships and relationships.&nbsp; </li><li>Adhere to the partnership pipeline standards.&nbsp;</li></ul>Qualifications:&nbsp;<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Studies, Education, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field; or a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.</li><li>Working knowledge of group facilitation techniques and practices. </li><li>Demonstrated experience applying community engagement values and practice.</li><li>Police Information Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.</li></ul>Compensation and Work Environment:&nbsp;<ul><li>Salary range $54,000-$60,000 annually. </li><li>This position will be for a one-year term. </li><li>Comprehensive benefits package.&nbsp; </li><li>Excellent work environment with a professional development budget. </li><li>Hybrid schedule is 1 day at home and 4 in office.&nbsp; </li><li>Open and collaborative work environment.&nbsp; </li><li>Travel to Calgary and surrounding areas, a car would be required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this role.Application deadline is:&nbsp;December 8, 2025, at 11:59 PMWe appreciate your interest in this role.
