Organization: Newcomer Centre of Peel (NCP)

The Newcomer Centre of Peel is seeking enthusiastic Arabic-speaking volunteers to support our upcoming Educational Forum, an in-person community event designed to help newcomer families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Educational Forum is an open house-style event where newcomer parents and caregivers can connect with local community agencies, ask questions, and receive important information about enrolling and supporting their children as they begin school in September.

Volunteer Role

We are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers who are fluent in Arabic and English to assist with interpretation and provide general event support for Arabic-speaking families.

Volunteer responsibilities may include:

• Providing informal Arabic-English interpretation during information sessions and conversations.
• Greeting and directing participants to the appropriate areas.
• Assisting families with navigating the event.
• Helping ensure the event runs smoothly.
• Supporting NCP staff with general event logistics as needed.

No professional interpretation experience is required. If you enjoy helping others and are comfortable communicating in both Arabic and English, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer Commitment

Volunteer Orientation

• Date: August 17
• Orientation will review the event schedule, volunteer responsibilities, and answer any questions.

Educational Forum Event

• Date: August 18
• Format: In-person
• Event location and volunteer arrival details will be provided to successful applicants.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both Arabic and English
• Friendly, dependable, and comfortable interacting with diverse communities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to attend both the volunteer orientation and the event
