The Graduate Student Society at SFU (the GSS) is hiring for a permanent part-time Administrator. The role supports the daily operations of the GSS and oversees its book keeping, payroll, and administrative functions. This is a unionized position (CUPE 3338) and the GSS is seeking to fill the position immediately.

The Graduate Student Society is a member-led organization that works on behalf of graduate students at Simon Fraser University. The organization has a horizontal governance structure with graduate students providing direction and decision making throughout the society’s various levels of governance. The GSS is a small, dynamic and active non-profit organization that provides support for approximately 4,000 members, 40 affiliated departmental caucuses, and numerous member-led committees that give operational direction to the society.

We are seeking candidates that thrive in collective and collaborative spaces. This includes balancing responsibilities to mentor students, the democratic member-led governance structure, and providing the best possible service to the student membership. The Administrator plays a critical role supporting operations in collaboration with the GSS Executive Committee and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with budget planning, payroll, financial tracking, book keeping, annual audit preparation, policy interpretation, engagement with membership, and mentorship.

SUMMARY

Position: Administrator

Type: Part-time, permanent

Salary: $46.82 per hour

Hours: 28 hours per week

Location: SFU Campus, Burnaby, BC (with some flexibility for remote work)

Start Date: As soon as possible
