
YWiB Finance Board Member
POSITION SUMMARY
YWiB has an awesome brand and reputation. We want to leverage this to help us strengthen our existing relationships as well as build new ones. We’re eager to build lasting relationships with our partners, sponsors, and communities to reach mutually beneficial goals.
As a board member, you will be expected to actively contribute to helping build organizational capacity in ways that help us carry out our priorities, productively increase membership and engagement, and ensure effective stewardship of YWiB’s resources. As a board member with finance experience, you will also be expected to be comfortable reviewing the society’s financials (as prepared by a member on the National Team) and answering questions on the same.
WORK PERFORMED
- Oversight and governance of YWiB.
- Reviewing and updating the YWiB policies on an annual basis to ensure accuracy and relevance to the organization.
- A commitment to attending 1+ board meeting per month, minimum of 12 per year.
- A commitment to attending 3-4 board and YWiB National meetings per year.
- A commitment to attending 2+ YWiB chapter events per year.
- Work closely with the YWiB National team to develop and provide mentorship to YWiB chapter executives on all policies, systems, and procedures, including reviewing and providing guidance on YWiB Financial policies on an annual basis to ensure accuracy and relevance to the organization.
- Reviewing, discussing and presenting the organization’s financial statements on an annual basis in collaboration with the finance volunteer on YWiB’s National Team.
- Overseeing GST and Corporate Tax filings
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience as either a member or volunteer with YWiB is considered an asset, as well as prior board experience. Two or more years of experience in a Financial Accounting and Reporting role with or working towards a CPA designation is preferred. Five or more years of professional experience. You’ll be great at this job if you are: an excellent communicator, have experience leading and managing teams and love working with people.
