York Region Educational Services (YRES) is dedicated to leading community volunteerism as a proud recipient of Canada's Volunteer Award, through providing a wide range of volunteer positions in communities in the Greater Vancouver Area, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, and Alberta. We are looking for a YRES Event Assistant - someone devoted to giving back to their community, making an impact, and who loves socializing.

Volunteers will help create a welcoming and organized experience for guests, presenters, sponsors, and award recipients throughout the event.

The YRES Event Assistant is responsible for:

  • Arriving independently to the event on time and in professional attire
  • Assisting with event set-up and clean-up
  • Helping decorate and prepare the venue
  • Confidently greeting and directing guests upon arrival
  • Assisting guests with seating and audience flow
  • Supporting backstage operations and presenter coordination
  • Helping distribute refreshments and snacks during intermission
  • Assisting with photobooth set-up and group photos
  • Supporting award ceremony logistics and transitions
  • Providing feedback on the event

Location: Flato Markham Theatre

Date & Time:

August 9, 2026 (3:00pm - 4:30pm)

Shift: 2:30pm - 5:00pm

Who We're Looking For:

- Minimum age: 12

- Able to independently arrive to work on time

- Passionate about volunteering and excited to learn

- Can commit to scheduled time of the shift

- Fluency in English

- Highly organized, detail-orientated and capable of managing multiple tasks
