Position Summary
Reporting to the Youth Program Supervisor (or designate), the Youth Program arts Worker will work as part of the Youth Program team to support youth (12-19 years old) engagement through arts, design, and communications projects. This role emphasizes creative expression (visual arts, design, music, theater, media, and digital storytelling) to amplify youth voices, foster community connection, and highlight the centre’s strategic goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement arts-based and communications projects that engage youth participants (visual arts, digital media, photography, music, theater, creative writing).
- Support the design, facilitation, and installation of visual projects, public artworks, and signage promoting the strategic priorities in the centre’s strategic plan (Anti-Racism, 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusion, Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples) and prioritizing the involvement of residents especially youth
- Facilitate youth-led creative workshops and support participants in developing their own projects.
- Design and produce program materials (flyers, posters, newsletters, and digital content).
- Contribute to social media content highlighting youth achievements, events, and community initiatives.
- Support documentation of program activities through photos, videos, and storytelling.
- Encourage local youth leadership and provide mentorship opportunities in arts and communications
- Assist with program planning, evaluation, and reporting as part of the Youth Program team.
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and community events as required.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration, contribute with enthusiasm to WWCC initiatives, and embody the values of Warden Woods as part of our unique communities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience working directly with youth in a community setting.
- Strong skills in different arts disciplines (visuals arts, music, theatre, graphics, photography, digital media, dance, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate arts-based programming with young people.
- Strong ability to create communications content (design, writing, photography, and social media)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of community life in Southwest Scarborough is an asset.
- Education or training in Arts, Communications, Media, or Community Work is an asset.
- Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate and Food Handler’s Certification are an asset.
- A clear Criminal Reference Check is a condition of employment.
Compensation and Hours of Work:
- Employment type: Contract, Part-time
- Contract ending June 30, 2026
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 5-hour shifts between 2 PM and 8 PM (with occasional evenings and weekends as required)
- Hourly Rate: $22.58
- Work Location: in-person at 74 Firvalley Court, Scarborough
