Target Hiring Salary: $22 per hour

Overview:

Holy Redeemer Parish is seeking a full-time Youth Minister who, under the direction of the Pastor, will implement social retreats and outreach activities that meet the spiritual formation of Grade 6-12 youth. The Youth Minister will provide leadership and direction for the yearly activities of the parish youth, as well as advocacy for the youth. The candidate will be a strong and proficient communicator and have competent administrative skills

Responsibilities:

EDGE and Teen Ministry

  • Plan and execute bi-weekly EDGE (Grade 6-8) and Teen nights (High School), including catechetical teaching, small groups, prayer, and community-building activities.
  • Recruit, form and train a team of parish volunteers to assist in this teen program.

Sacramental Prep

  • Design, implement, and oversee First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation preparation program, including catechetical instruction, candidate retreat, and candidate accompaniment in collaboration with the Pastor.

Catechesis

  • Plan, coordinate, and support volunteer leaders to assist in delivering Children’s Liturgy program during Sunday Mass, ensuring age-appropriate catechesis that is faithful, engaging, and reverent.
  • Conduct regular partner school visits (biweekly or as scheduled) to assigned elementary and high schools.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the parish and partner schools, fostering strong, collaborative relationships with principals, chaplaincy leaders, and staff.

Camp Ministry and Other Youth Program Opportunities

  • Prepare and organize parish summer camp experiences for youth.
  • Seek opportunities to join/run other Archdiocesan and regional youth programs and conferences.
  • Provide training, direction and support for parish staff and volunteers of youth ministry.
  • Engage social media platforms for promotion of youth ministry activities.
  • Other duties, as required.

General Requirements:

  • Minimum one year of related education/formation/training background suited for the work required in this position
  • A mature spiritual life
  • Be in full communion with the Catholic Church
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the parish pastoral team
  • Excellent computer skills necessary for administrative functions (documents, presentation tools, web navigation, etc.)
  • Proficiency and knowledge in the use of social media
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Access and use of a vehicle for the position
  • Able to set 2 – 4 Goals to be achieved in each Key Result Area per year
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A criminal background check will be required of the successful applicant
