Ministry Position: Young Adults Minister
St. Clement’s is currently seeking a dynamic Young Adults Minister to build discipleship and community with young adults (20s & 30s) in the parish and in the wider Yonge & Eglinton neighbourhood. Through outward engagement, Christ-centred conversation, and pastoral guidance, the Young Adults Minister will encourage young adults to explore what learning to follow Jesus looks like for them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome young adults currently engaging with our community, and follow-up 1:1 to build relationships
- Become a visible presence in the neighbourhood, actively seeking opportunities for effective connections with young adults in the area
- Facilitate opportunities for young adults to deepen relationships with one another
- Foster discipleship among young adults through participation in the life of the church
- Offer ongoing pastoral care to members of St. Clement’s young adult community
- Participate fully as an active member of the staff team
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- A baptized follower of Jesus who worships regularly with a church community
- Post-secondary education in theology or equivalent a strong asset
- Experience working with young adults
- Passionate about fostering faith formation among young adults
- A person with strong initiative who is able to network and respond creatively to the needs of young adults within the parish and in the context of the wider neighbourhood
- A person of character and courage, willing to risk moving beyond the church walls to meet young adults on their own terms
- Ability to engage with young adults from diverse backgrounds and a willingness to openly explore challenging questions
- Ability to organize, plan and implement opportunities for connection
- Enthusiastic about leadership development with proven experience developing leaders
- Adept with social media
- Strong communication skills
- Excited about collaborating with a strong team
Terms:
- This is a half-time position at 20 hours per week. There will be some flexibility in hours, however the successful candidate must be available to work Sunday mornings (worship) and Tuesday mornings (staff meetings).
- The successful candidate will work primarily on-site at our growing church in midtown Toronto, with a particular focus on community building in the neighbourhood.
- Compensation package: the expected compensation range for this role is $24,500 to $28,000 annually. Placement within the range will be based on relevant education, demonstrated skills and experience. St. Clement’s offers a robust benefits package, including shared premiums to extended health benefits, matching pension contributions, and three (3) weeks vacation.
- The Young Adults Minister reports to the Rector.
