Unpaid Volunteer Position

YES is Canada’s leader in youth employment training and job placement serving over 15 thousand youth per year with close to 90% success rate. YES has 60 years of experience delivering FREE employment and entrepreneurial training followed by job placement, especially for at risk youth and including those with mental health disabilities and disadvantaged youth. YES truly changes lives and creates safer stronger communities.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

YES is currently seeking up to two new board members with knowledge or experience in some of the areas noted below, and in particular, we are seeking someone with executive level experience in learning and development, training and/or education:

  • Strategic planning
  • Fundraising
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Marketing and communications
  • Information Technology, AI, Cybersecurity
  • Learning and Development, Training and/or education
  • Human Resources
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Government Relations or political acumen
  • General Management


General Overall Qualifications for Board Members:

  • Passionate about our Mission and Vision with a demonstrated commitment to community and charity
  • Team player who will contribute productively to Board discussions across a broad range of topics
  • Strategic thinker who will provide insights and ideas to designing short and long term YES strategy
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Experience with non-profit organizations and Board governance
  • Leads with empathy


Board Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight
  • Ensure effective governance and compliance
  • Oversee risk management
  • Provide financial oversight
  • Be a positive representative for YES both on the Board and in the community
  • Support and participate in fundraising activities


Time Commitment:

  • 4 Board meetings per year with two in person meetings at YES office in downtown Toronto, usually during business hours, for a duration of 2-3 hours per meeting
  • Available for committee meetings and ad-hoc meetings as needed
  • Commit for no less than 3 years and participate on at least one Committee
