Worship Pastor Description St. Paul’s Bloor Street (SPBS), a growing and diverse community rooted in the Anglican tradition and located in the heart of downtown Toronto, is seeking a new Worship Pastor starting Fall 2025. The primary responsibility of the Worship Pastor is to support the mission of SPBS by effectively giving musical leadership and oversight to the worship ministry focused through the 9:30am Sunday Service. Within St. Paul’s envisioned 10-Year Future, the Worship Pastor will forge a deepening culture of worship and prayer; and will recruit, mentor and multiply worship leaders and teams ready for church planting. The worship at St. Paul’s 9:30am Sunday Service is in a modern style, leading with songs from artists and writers such as Maverick City, Hillsong, Bethel, The Porter’s Gate, and Elevation Worship while also re-imagining familiar hymns. The 9:30am Service is growing and gathers 350-400 people weekly, worshipping in the beauty of Gothic Revival architecture.

Key Responsibilities Worship Leadership: Planning, Preparation and Execution


• Attend weekly worship planning meetings, collaborate within the ministry team and implement all musical elements for the Sunday 9:30am Service, aligned with service themes and scripture, including other special services (Christmas, Easter, Holy Week, etc.).


• Integrate a deeper culture of worship into other ministry areas at St. Paul’s: leading and/or coordinating other instances of worship, incl. Alpha, prayer nights, staff meetings/retreats, AGM, etc.


• Provide guidance and assistance to the worship leadership at our church plant, St. George’s Grange Park, and our envisioned growing family of neighbourhood churches.


• Ensure all worship resources (song lyrics, charts, arrangements, reference recordings, etc.) are available and shared accurately and timely with worship team members and other support staff, via Planning Center, ProPresenter or other ministry workspaces.


• Lead and coordinate weekly Tuesday rehearsals for worship teams & worship leaders. There may be flexibility to adapt this rehearsal schedule if necessary.


• Before each service and with assistance from Production Team, set band area (incl. stands, in-ear monitors (IEMs), service bulletins, etc.) and conduct soundcheck and final rehearsal (e.g., 8-9am on Sunday mornings)


• Partner with the Classic Music Director (11:15am Sunday Service) to build a cohesive

music ministry for the entire parish.
• Participate in personal and professional development.

Team Building & Spiritual Leadership
• Assume pastoral and discipleship care for worship leaders and teams
• Build and develop worship teams to support church planting and leadership

development at St. Paul’s, by recruiting, training and mentoring vocalists, musicians and worship leaders.


• Before each service, lead the worship team in prayer, fostering a Christ-centered and spiritually focused environment before leading the congregation in worship.

Technical & Resource Management
• Communicate all relevant audio technical needs to the Production Manager,

including weekly input lists, setup requirements, etc.
• Collaborate with Production Team regarding the maintenance and optimal

functionality of any music equipment, including piano, Hammond B3 organ w/ Leslie speaker, acoustic guitar, guitar/bass amplifies, drum kit, IEMs, cabling and accessories, etc.


• Purchase and maintain any other copyrights, music materials, music library, etc.

Requirements and Qualifications The Worship Pastor is a person who will:


• Have a vocational call to worship ministry, with a minimum 3 years experience leading worship in a congregational setting.


• Have a broad knowledge and appreciation of worship styles, including some familiarity with Anglican liturgy.


• Be capable of casting the St. Paul’s mission and vision to worship teams and leaders,

empowering them into further ministry.
• Be a talented strong vocalist and/or instrumentalist, proficient in reading varieties of

sheet music.
• Work as part of a large and varied ministry team.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, & confidentiality.
• Has expertise with the technical components of live in-person audio production,

including sound mixing, acoustics, etc. or a willingness to learn. Additional Information


• Direct Accountability: Associate Priest (Worship)
• Type: Part-Time, 25 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate some evenings

and weekends. Specific availability is required for significant church seasons: Christmas, Easter & Holy Week.
