The Local Charity is a volunteer-run Canadian registered non-profit charity based in Toronto devoted to creating diverse leaders of tomorrow. Our mission is to enable and inspire individuals to reach their greatest potential. Our goal is to empower them to be the author of their own story.

The Opportunity

The Toronto Local Charity is a registered volunteer-run charity serving marginalized youth aged 16–29 in the Greater Toronto Area. We're at an exciting inflection point — our brand is refreshed, our copy is written, and our Figma design is complete. What we need now is someone to bring it all to life in WordPress.

This is a well-scoped, meaningful build. No design decisions, no copy to write. Just clean, skilled execution from a finished design into a live site that will serve our community for years to come. If you're a developer who takes pride in getting the details right and wants their work to matter, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Build the WordPress site from a completed Figma design, implementing all pages, layouts, and brand assets accurately
  • Ensure full mobile responsiveness — our audience is young and mobile-first
  • Configure plugins for performance, security, and accessibility as needed
  • Support ongoing updates as new programs and content are added throughout the year
  • Maintain working files and documentation in TLC's shared Google Drive
  • Communicate proactively via Slack

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Believing in our cause is mandatory 😃
  • Solid WordPress development experience — theme customization, page builders, plugin configuration
  • Ability to build accurately from a Figma file — pixel-level attention to detail matters here
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to brand consistency
  • Self-directed and async-capable
  • Proactive communicator who flags blockers early
  • Portfolio of past WordPress builds required
