Role Overview
The VP Finance is responsible for overseeing YWiB Vancouver's financial health and ensuring that the chapter has the resources and processes needed to operate effectively throughout the year.
This role works closely with the Co-Presidents and other VPs to develop budgets, monitor spending, manage financial processes, and support responsible decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the annual YWiB Vancouver budget in collaboration with the CoPresidents.
- Track revenue, expenses, and cash flow throughout the year.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Establish and communicate guidelines for team spending and reimbursements.
- Work with the VP Sponsorships and other relevant VPs to track incoming funds and event-related revenue.
- Review proposed event and program budgets and provide financial guidance to portfolio leads.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and improve financial efficiency.
- Prepare regular financial updates for the leadership team.
- Ensure financial activities follow YWiB and chapter requirements.
- Support year-end financial reporting and transition to the incoming leadership team. Ideal Candidate
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers. â—Ź Responsible and trustworthy with confidential financial information.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic financial tools.
- Able to communicate financial information clearly to people without a finance background.
- Proactive and willing to flag financial concerns before they become problems.
- Previous finance, accounting, budgeting, or operations experience is an asset but not required.
