Role Overview

The VP Community is responsible for building a strong, welcoming, and connected YWiB Vancouver community. This role focuses on ensuring that members feel like they belong to something—not simply that they attended an event.

The VP Community creates opportunities for members to connect with one another, deepen relationships, and stay engaged with YWiB throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

â—Ź Develop and execute YWiB Vancouver's community-engagement strategy.

â—Ź Create opportunities for members to connect before, during, and beyond major events.

â—Ź Develop initiatives that encourage member participation and relationship-building.

â—Ź Help create a welcoming experience for new members.

â—Ź Identify ways to increase member retention and ongoing engagement.

â—Ź Gather member feedback and communicate insights to the leadership team.

â—Ź Work with the VP Events to incorporate community-building into events.

â—Ź Work with the VP Marketing to maintain member engagement between events.

â—Ź Explore initiatives such as member spotlights, small-group gatherings, mentorship opportunities, networking activities, or community socials.

â—Ź Help foster an inclusive environment where members from different backgrounds and career stages feel welcome.

â—Ź Monitor community sentiment and proactively identify opportunities or concerns.

Ideal Candidate:

â—Ź Naturally people-oriented and enjoys connecting others.

â—Ź Empathetic, approachable, and a strong listener.

â—Ź Passionate about building inclusive communities.

â—Ź Creative and willing to experiment with new engagement ideas.

â—Ź Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

â—Ź Experience in community building, student organizations, events, mentorship, or member engagement is an asset.

Success Looks Like:

â—Ź Members feel welcomed, connected, and valued.

â—Ź New members have clear opportunities to get involved.

â—Ź Members continue engaging with YWiB between major events.

â—Ź Community feedback is actively incorporated into programming and initiatives.

â—Ź YWiB develops a genuine sense of belonging rather than simply an event-attendee
