Volunteer Yoga Instructor
Make a Difference Through Movement and Mindfulness
The Salvation Army Toronto Harbour Light Ministries is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Volunteer Yoga Instructor to lead weekly yoga sessions for adult male clients participating in our residential addiction treatment program.
This is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals on their recovery journey by promoting physical wellness, stress reduction, mindfulness, and healthy coping strategies in a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead beginner-friendly yoga classes for small groups of adult male participants.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for individuals of all fitness levels and experience.
- Adapt movements and instruction to accommodate varying physical abilities.
- Encourage mindfulness, relaxation, and overall well-being.
- Arrive prepared with a structured class plan and any required equipment (where applicable).
Qualifications
- Experience teaching yoga to groups.
- Yoga instructor certification is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, respectful, and non-judgmental approach when working with individuals in recovery.
- Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations is considered an asset but is not required.
