About Us

The Humane Choices Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to promoting animal rights, ethical awareness, and compassionate living. Our mission is to empower communities with knowledge and tools to make humane choices for the welfare of animals and the environment.

Our website is a central hub for outreach, education, and advocacy — but it needs a refresh. We’re looking for a passionate and skilled volunteer to help us upgrade and modernize our website so it can better reflect our mission and connect with more people.

Role Overview

As a Volunteer Website Designer & Developer, you will take the lead in improving our website’s design, usability, and functionality. This role is not just a short-term project — for the right person, it could evolve into a permanent position within the organization if our missions and working styles align.

Key Responsibilities

Review the current website and propose upgrades for design, navigation, and content structure.

Improve site functionality to make it user-friendly, mobile-responsive, and accessible.

Implement best practices for SEO and performance optimization.

Ensure donation and volunteer sign-up features are secure and easy to use.

Collaborate with our small team to align the website with the Foundation’s mission and branding.

Qualifications

Experience with WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or other CMS platforms.

Strong understanding of web design principles (UI/UX).

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic web development (JavaScript a plus).

Familiarity with SEO and website analytics.

Passion for animal rights, ethical advocacy, or non-profit work is strongly preferred.

What We Offer

A chance to make a tangible impact in advancing animal rights.

Creative freedom to shape the online identity of a growing non-profit.
