About Us

At hEr VOLUTION, we are a not-for-profit organization that is passionate about uplifting young girls and non-conforming youth in STEM. In the Volunteer Web Development and Maintenance role, you will be making a positive difference within the Marketing Committee, while working with individuals in other committees.

Position Overview

We rely on our online presence to engage with students, reach sponsors, connect with potential donors, share resources, and amplify our work. We are seeking a passionate Volunteer Web Developer to help maintain and improve our website.

What You’ll Do

• Support ongoing website development and maintenance
• Troubleshoot issues with the hEr VOLUTION website
• Transfer the hEr VOLUTION website to other domains as required by operating needs
• Implement organization updates as they develop
• Continually find improvements to enhance functionality and user experience
• Monitor how the hEr VOLUTION website appears on both desktop and mobile views
• Update content, plugins, and security patches as necessary
• Optimize website performance and loading speed
• Improve website accessibility
• Assist with SEO improvements
• Implement new features as needed
• Monitor website security protocols

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year commitment
• Passionate about STEM and youth
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or similar)
• Basic understanding of SEO best practices
• Familiarity with web hosting environments
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong writing skills
• Ability to interpret data, generate reports, and translate insights into action.
• Experience, or willingness to learn how to build webpages from scratch
• Strong project management skills, creative mindset and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently while being collaborative with others in the team
• Ability to take feedback and make changes to content as necessary
• Align with the hEr VOLUTION brand

• You meet deadlines
• You demonstrate measurable outcomes in website views and click rates
• You consistently maintain the website on a regular basis to keep up with organization policy
• You identify why a website layout succeeded or failed and adapt future webpages based on those findings.
• You are proactive and seek solutions to problems and opportunities before they arise.
• You work with other committee members to promote the various programs on the hEr VOLUTION website
• Strong ability to align with the hEr VOLUTION brand
