Volunteer Tutor-Math
Position: Volunteer Tutor Location: Remote Time Commitment: 3 hours per week Duration: Minimum 6 months
Overview: We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with tutoring adults in our math classes. Adults in our math classes are working on a variety of skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions and more! Classes are held online on:
• Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
• Thursday from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Volunteers may choose to participate on one or more days, based on their availability. Responsibilities:
• Assist in tutoring 1-1, or small groups of 2-3 adults, in basic math skills.
• Support learners with hands-on practice activities and encourage active participation.
• Provide constructive feedback to help participants improve their math skills
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Qualifications:
• Strong proficiency in basic math concepts and operations.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an asset but not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, enthusiasm and genuine interest in helping others develop math skills.
