
Volunteer Treasurer to Join Our Board
Caring For Young Minds (CYM) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors and support our mission to improve the lives of children and youth with mental health concerns.
About CYM
We envision a society where every child and youth facing mental health challenges—and their families—can access a full range of timely, effective services that support healthy social, educational, and developmental outcomes. Our goal is to reduce long-term complications associated with mental health conditions and their impact on individuals, families, and communities.
CYM is entirely volunteer-run. 100% of donations directly support children and youth.
Volunteer Treasurer – Role Overview
The Treasurer plays a key role in ensuring CYM can continue providing essential support. Responsibilities include:
Financial Management
Issue payments for services and supports provided to children and families (e.g., assessments, equipment).
Pay invoices as needed.
Record details of all incoming cheques and cash.
Complete and submit CIBC deposit slips (in person or online).
Donor Recognition & Tax Receipts
For individual donations: send thank-you notes and prepare tax receipts (to be delivered by early January).
Record donor names, addresses, and donation amounts.
For donations from charitable foundations: send thank-you notes and issue tax receipts.
Annual Reporting
Prepare annual tax information for the fiscal year (April 1 – March 31).
Submit all year-end financial information to the accountant for CRA filing.
Time Commitment
Board Meetings: Approximately 10 meetings per year (about 1 hour each).
Year-End Preparation: 3–5 hours annually to compile tax information.
