Are you experienced in financial management and passionate about giving back to your community? Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada, a registered nonprofit charity, is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors.

This is a volunteer position that requires a collaborative and proactive individual with financial expertise to play a vital role in ensuring strong financial oversight, good governance, and long-term sustainability for our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and leadership on the charity’s financial matters
- Prepare and present budgets, financial statements, and management reports to the board
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of the CRA T3010B Information Return
- Develop and implement financial, reserve, and investment policies
- Ensure financial practices are compliant with legal, regulatory, and CRA requirements
- Act as a co-signer on cheques and funding applications
- Advise on the financial implications of the organization’s strategic plan
- Liaise with the Secretary, Finance Director, and external auditors or examiners
- Monitor the charity’s financial viability and report key findings to the board
- Support internal audit processes, where applicable
- Contribute to the development of a fundraising strategy

Qualifications:
- Experience in financial management, accounting, or as a Treasurer (nonprofit experience preferred)
- Understanding of CRA guidelines for charities and regulatory compliance
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and financial acumen
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial board members
- Commitment to upholding the charity’s mission and values



Required degree level

  • Experienced (Non Manager)
  • Volunteer
