Position: Volunteer Social Media Professional
Organization: Breast Cancer Support Fund
Location: Remote (with occasional in-person meetings, as needed)
Commitment: Flexible, approximately 5–10 hours per month

About Us:
The Breast Cancer Support Fund (BCSF) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment. With 76% of our beneficiaries living on less than $25,000 per year, our mission is to help women in financial need focus on healing rather than the financial burden of their diagnosis.
We’re a small but mighty organization with a growing community of supporters. As we celebrate our 15th anniversary and build on the momentum of our Move for the Boob campaign, we’re looking to strengthen our online presence and reach more people who can help us make a difference.
We are seeking a creative and motivated Volunteer Social Media Professional to help us tell our story, engage our community, grow our digital reach, and ultimately translate greater awareness into more support for the women we serve.
This isn't just an opportunity to post content. It's an opportunity to help shape how a national charity tells its story.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a simple social media content calendar aligned with BCSF priorities, campaigns, events, and fundraising activities.
- Create and publish engaging content across relevant platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Write compelling captions and adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
- Help build on the momentum of the Move for the Boob campaign through creative and engaging social media content.
- Support social media communications around BCSF’s 15th anniversary and other major milestones.
- Share patient stories, testimonials, organizational updates, fundraising initiatives, and impact stories in a thoughtful and respectful way.
- Help promote fundraising campaigns, events, volunteer opportunities, and partnership initiatives.
- Monitor comments, messages, and engagement and help maintain a positive and welcoming online community.
- Identify relevant social media trends, opportunities, and content ideas that could increase BCSF’s visibility.
- Track basic performance metrics such as reach, engagement, and follower growth and share insights with the team.
- Collaborate with the PR, graphic design, fundraising, and leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, nonprofit, community group, or personal brand.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with an ability to communicate in a warm, authentic, and engaging voice.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
- Understanding of social media trends and best practices.
- Experience with social media scheduling or management tools is an asset.
- Basic experience with Canva, photo/video editing, or other content creation tools is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent messaging and branding.
- Creative, proactive, organized, and comfortable working independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small, passionate team.
- Experience with nonprofit communications or social impact campaigns is an asset.
- A genuine interest in using social media to create positive community impact.
Why Volunteer with Us:
- Use your social media skills to create real-world impact for women facing breast cancer.
