About Us

At hEr VOLUTION, we are a not-for-profit organization that is passionate about uplifting young girls and non-conforming youth in STEM. In the Volunteer Social Media and Communication Strategist role, you will be making a positive difference within the Marketing Committee, while working with individuals in other committees.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Social Media & Communication Strategist to help elevate our digital presence and strengthen our messaging. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strategy with creativity and has a desire to make noticeable impacts through communications.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement social media strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage and create original, high quality content for the organization
  • Liaise with designers and other content creators/committees to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Collaborate with all teams to create social ‘buzz’ regarding new program/campaign launches
  • Promote and grow hEr VOLUTION social media platforms (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X)
  • Track performance metrics and provide analytics reports on a monthly basis
  • Review social media posts, newsletters, website pages, blog content, and email campaigns to ensure readability and accessibility
  • Ensure that the hEr VOLUTION brand is consistent with its voice and messaging across all communication channels
  • Support communication campaigns for events, fundraising, and awareness initiatives
  • Monitor communication trends and update hEr VOLUTION communications policy as required
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization
  • Determine successful versus unsuccessful campaigns to guide future strategy
  • Stay up-to-date with new digital technologies and social media best practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year commitment
  • Passionate about STEM and youth
  • Interested in nonprofit work
  • Experience in social media management, marketing, or communications
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Hootsuite, MailerLite/MailChimp, or similar communication platforms
  • Knowledgeable about various social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X
  • Basic understanding of analytics and content performance tracking
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Experience, or willingness to learn how to develop social media and communication policies from scratch
  • Strong project management skills, creative mindset and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently while being collaborative with others in the team
  • Ability to take feedback and make changes to content as necessary
  • Align with the hEr VOLUTION brand
