Unpaid Volunteer Position
Works with:
• Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager (Direct report and supervisor)
• Community Ambassador (Direct report and supervisor; where applicable)
• Program Support Administrator (Support)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning and Implementation:
Activity Planning:
• Develop Schedules: Create and maintain a comprehensive schedule of activities that
balance fitness and literacy adhering to the Running & Reading Club program manual.
• Curriculum Integrity: Support the volunteer team in implementing the Start2Finish
curriculum that aligns with the goals of the program, including fitness routines and literacy
activities to program integrity.
Resource Management:
• Working with the volunteer team manage the program’s snack budget and program
equipment/supplies ensuring efficient use of resources and funds.

2. Leadership and Supervision:
Team Management:
• Supervise Volunteers: Supervise volunteers, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Assign Roles: Assign specific roles and responsibilities to volunteers to ensure effective
program delivery.
• Conduct Meetings: Hold regular Coaches’ Debrief meetings to discuss progress,
challenges, and upcoming activities.
Student Engagement:
• Build Relationships: Develop positive relationships with students to create a supportive and
motivating environment.
• Mentorship: Work with the volunteer team to provide mentorship and support to students,
encouraging their participation and personal growth.


3. Program Monitoring and Evaluation:
Track Progress:
• Monitor Attendance: Keep accurate records of student attendance and participation.
• Assess Outcomes: Work with the volunteer team to regularly assess the effectiveness of
the program through evaluations and feedback from students and other volunteers through
tools provided by headoffice.
Feedback and Improvement:
• Implement Changes: Make necessary adjustments to the program based on feedback and
evaluation results.
4. Communication and Coordination:

• Liaise with Staff: Coordinate with head office staff and other program leaders/community
ambassadors to align activities and share information.
• Update Volunteers: Keep volunteers informed about schedules, changes, and important
updated.
5. Safety and Compliance:
Ensure Safety:
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks during activities.
• Adhere to Protocols: Ensure all safety protocols and guidelines are followed to provide a
safe environment for students.
Compliance:
• Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of incidents, attendance, and other important
information.
• Follow Regulations: Ensure the program complies with all relevant regulations and
guidelines.

Qualifications
• Previous Experience Working with Children
• Strong Leadership Abilities: Capable of leading and motivating a team of volunteers and engaging with
students effectively.
• Team Management: Proven ability to supervise and support volunteers.
• Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with
students, parents, volunteers, and school staff.
• Organizational skills: To manage schedules, resources, and program logistics.
• Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to ensure the smooth operation of
the program.

o Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and needs within the program.
o Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise.

Reading Club.
o Dependability: Reliable and consistent in attendance and performance.

Orientation & Training
Orientation about Start2Finish and Club Director leadership training provided by head office or regional Master
Trainer.
Time Commitment Required
• 4 hours a week
o 2 hours preparation and administration
o 2.5 hours during the in-person program sessions
• Commitment to the entire program for at least two years (October to May or January to May)
