About the Role
We are looking for a Volunteer Ruby on Rails Developer to help design, build, and improve our web application(s). This role is ideal for someone who wants to contribute to a meaningful project, advance current best practices with AI-assist, and collaborate with a small, passionate team.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain features using Ruby on Rails
- Collaborate with designers, product owners, and other developers
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Help debug issues and improve application performance
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with Ruby on Rails (professional, academic, or personal projects)
- Familiarity with MVC architecture, RESTful APIs, and ActiveRecord
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with Git and version control
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team
Nice to Have (Optional)
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, or background jobs (Sidekiq)
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (RSpec, Minitest)
- DevOps or deployment experience (Heroku, AWS, Docker)
- Interest in LandSeed’s mission
