Committee Purpose and Overall Goals
The Programming Committee is responsible for the strategic design, development, and oversight of Bloom Collective’s educational, professional development, and community programming. The committee ensures Bloom delivers high-quality, relevant, and impactful events and initiatives that advance the professional growth, leadership capacity, and network of women and gender-diverse professionals in the cannabis industry.
The committee plays a critical role in shaping Bloom’s event calendar, learning experiences, and community offerings, ensuring programming aligns with Bloom’s mission, values, and long-term strategic objectives.
The committee establishes standards, frameworks, and processes to ensure all programming is inclusive, accessible, professionally delivered, and responsive to member and industry needs.
Key Responsibilities
The Programming Committee provides strategic direction and operational oversight for Bloom’s programming portfolio, including:
- Development of Bloom’s annual and quarterly programming strategy and calendar
- Design and oversight of educational events, workshops, panels, speaker series, and networking sessions
- Identification of relevant industry topics, trends, and skills gaps to inform programming themes
- Speaker and facilitator sourcing, vetting, and approval
- Development of program objectives, learning outcomes, and success metrics
- Oversight of event formats (virtual, in-person, hybrid) to maximize accessibility and engagement
- Assisting with the sourcing, evaluation, and securing of venues for in-person events
- Coordination with venue partners to support logistics, capacity planning, and event experience
- Collaboration with Marketing & Communications Committee to support event promotion and outreach
- Collaboration with Mentorship and other committees to ensure program alignment and cross-integration
- Development of standardized programming guidelines, event playbooks, and quality standards
Post-event evaluation and feedback collection to drive continuous improvement
Support of fundraising and sponsorship initiatives through strategic programming opportunities
Governance and Accountability
- The committee is accountable to the Bloom Board of Directors
- Regular Programming Committee meetings are required
- Meeting minutes must be recorded and maintained
Qualifications and Experience for Success
The Programming Committee is best supported by individuals with experience in event development, education, or community engagement. Preferred qualifications include:
- Charity or non-profit experience is preferred
- Experience designing or delivering professional development programs, events, or workshops
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to evaluate program quality and learning outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the cannabis industry and its professional landscape
- Experience working with speakers, facilitators, or external partnerships
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and professional integrity
- Ability to think strategically while supporting hands-on execution in a volunteer environment
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role requiring participation in regular committee meetings, active involvement in program planning cycles, ad hoc collaboration around specific events.
Estimated commitment: 3–6 hours per month, depending on programming schedule.
