Unpaid Volunteer Position
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week (8-12 hours per month)
Location: Ontario (Remote/Virtual)
Direct Supervisor: Executive Director
**Minimum of 5 months required
Duties
Scheduling and communication work
- Maintain an updated volunteer scheduling calendar for the 1:1 Peer Support Workers and provide session reminders to the participants and volunteers
- Receive and notify the Peer Support Workers and Supervisors if any participants require visual or audio-related accommodations
- Resolving ad-hoc Zoom meeting access-related challenges for Peer Support Workers and the program participants (including resolving audio/visual difficulties, sharing screens and related permissions)
- Help oversee the creation and processing of intake forms for peer support program participants including scheduling follow-up calls with the prospective participants
- Document and notify the Peer Support Supervisors and the Executive Director of peer support volunteers’ late arrivals and absences for the 1:1 sessions
- Manage communication between the peer support program participants and workers (e.g. reply to inquiries about program availability, session topics, client confidentiality limits etc.)
- Adhere to all DSVSC related policies and processes (e.g. code of conduct, confidentiality and reporting requirements)
Program Development
- Develop pathways for recruiting and retaining program participants from nonprofits, campus sexual violence support centres, counselling centres, and related survivor networks.
- Create and organize participant feedback forms for review by the peer support workers, supervisors and the executive director
- Help identify and document best practices, policies and procedures for the improvement of the peer support program
- Attend relevant peer support and leadership team meetings and training as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent spoken and written communication in English
- Demonstrates patience and understanding when navigating client bookings and potential coordination challenges
- Open to exchanging feedback with the Peer Support Workers, Supervisors and the Executive Director
- Open to learning about technology facilitated sexual violence (TFSV)
- Strong administrative, clerical and scheduling skills
- Attentive and maintains discretion when handling potential concerns or challenges presented by any of the peer support worker volunteers or participants
