The Glebe Centre Board of Directors – Call for Volunteer Board Members

The Glebe Centre, a respected long-term care and community support organization in Ottawa, is seeking four volunteer Board members to join its dedicated governance team.

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

• A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation,
• A strong background in finance, accounting, or related fields,
• Health Services or Health Administration,
• Facilities/Development
• Fundraising

About the Glebe Centre The Glebe Centre is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides high-quality long- term care and community services to older adults. Our mission is to enhance the well- being, dignity, and quality of life of seniors through compassionate care, innovative programs, and community partnerships.

Role of the Board of Directors The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and governance to ensure that The Glebe Centre fulfils its mission and operates with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Board members work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team to guide the organization’s strategic priorities, financial sustainability, and community impact.

Desired Skills and Experience We welcome applications from individuals who share a commitment to supporting the health and well-being of older adults and who possess expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Accounting, finance, and audit oversight (CPA designation preferred)
• Senior health care, long-term care, or community-based services
• Legal and policy development, including familiarity with not-for-profit legislation,

governance frameworks, or regulatory compliance
• Board governance and leadership within not-for-profit or charitable sectors
• Fundraising, philanthropy, or foundation management
• Human resource management or organizational development
• Public policy, government relations, or community engagement

Qualifications and Expectations Board members are expected to:

• Attend approximately 10 board meetings per year (in person or virtually)
• Participate actively on at least one board committee
• Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning and fundraising initiatives
• Act as ambassadors for The Glebe Centre within the community
• Commit to a three-year volunteer term, renewable upon mutual agreement
