Job Overview
The Volunteer Payroll Coordinator supports Muslim Literary Festival (MLF) by ensuring payroll records are accurate, compliant, and up to date. This role is responsible for maintaining and verifying payroll information, staying current with payroll regulations and tax requirements, and supporting year-end processes such as preparing employee tax slips and required government filings. The Payroll Coordinator also helps identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and collaborates with internal teams to support smooth operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with payroll experience who is interested in contributing their skills within a growing non-profit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and verifying payroll records
  • Keep up to date with and ensure that payroll regulations and tax laws are followed
  • Preparing year-end employee tax slips or forms and submitting government filings to meet deadlines
  • Identifying any areas of improvement within the payroll process and leading the implementation of new payroll processes and systems

Qualifications

  • Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Previous/current experience as a payroll officer
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Bonus Experience: experience in payroll in a Non-profit
