Role Purpose The Volunteer Onboarding Coordinator supports the onboarding phase of the volunteer management lifecycle, spanning from placement confirmation through the volunteer's first 90 days of active engagement. This includes organizational orientation (policies, culture, systems) with the goal of setting volunteers up for meaningful contribution and long-term engagement. You will be instrumental in creating a welcoming, structured experience that helps new volunteers integrate successfully into CRC.

Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities are organized across three phases of the 90-day onboarding journey:

• Phase 2 (Days 30–60): Concentrates on ongoing task management support, community integration, identifying professional development opportunities, and providing constructive feedback and guidance

• Phase 3 (Days 60–90): Involves a final assessment, 90-day recognition, future planning discussions, and coordinating any placement changes or cross-project moves

• Key Check-ins: Formal check-ins are conducted at the 30-day and 60-day marks to gather feedback, assess the onboarding experience, and address concerns

• Administrative Tasks: Throughout the process, the plan ensures administrative needs are met, including sharing handbooks, provisioning system access, adding volunteers to communication channels, and keeping records updated

Required Qualifications
• Strong sense of accountability and follow-through

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative

• Experience in volunteer training, coaching, or management

• Continuous improvement mindset — always looking for opportunities to enhance processes

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience creating onboarding materials, training decks, or documentation

• Familiarity with tools like Slack, Google Workspace, or project management platforms

• Background in nonprofit, community-based, or volunteer organizations

• Interest in climate change, sustainability, or environmental advocacy

Key Deliverables & Success Metrics
• Improve the first 30/60/90 day volunteer plan template

• Enhance the organizational onboarding deck

• Develop/improve the project-specific onboarding deck template

• Increase onboarding satisfaction to 4.5/5 or higher
