
Volunteer Marketing & Social Media Manager
Are you passionate about the power of education to change the world? Put that passion and your marketing and communication skills to use with Education without Borders’ (EwB) South African Film Festival.
Who We Are:
Education without Borders (EwB) is a Canadian-based non-profit organization that provides educational programs to learners in South Africa and Zimbabwe, and supports Indigenous programs in Canada.
EwB’s key fundraising event is an annual South African Film Festival (SAFF) held in November, which presents feature films, documentaries and shorts that explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa – films that inspire, inform, and entertain. The festival will be streamed across Canada and the USA from November 6-17, 2025, with select in-person screenings in Canada. In 2025, SAFF is holding its 15th festival in Canada and 5th festival in the USA. All proceeds from the festival support Education without Borders (EwB).
Responsibilities
The volunteer Marketing and Social Media Manager supports both EwB and SAFF through the development of social media and newsletter content, content plans and publication. This role will have a strong focus on EwB’s South African film festival, with opportunities to work on Education without Borders ongoing marketing campaigns and occasional website updating.
- Collaborates with a small marketing and communications team based in different cities in Canada on EwB and SAFF initiatives including:
- Social Media
- Plan, develop and publish social media content
- Manage social media content calendar
- Work with the volunteer team to develop social media graphics using Canva
- Email Marketing
- Build Mailchimp emails for the 2025 SAFF film festival (templates available) including virtual films and in-person events
- Schedule and deploy emails to Canada and USA audiences on Mailchimp
- Website
- Help update content on the EwB and SAFF website as needed
- Help update content on the EwB and SAFF website as needed
You bring creativity as well as familiarity with:
- Social media management platforms and tools
- Mailchimp and Canva experience is an asset
- Website management
- Excellent communications
- Solid organizational skills and detail oriented

Format:
- This is a remote volunteer opportunity.
Time Commitment:
- 6-15 hours per month for ongoing support of EwB and/or SAFF, depending on projects
- Higher time commitment required in the month leading up to the SAFF festival, and during the festival which is taking place on November 6-17, 2025
