YMCA of Three Rivers

Location: Stratford YMCA
Reports To: Adult Program Supervisor
Time Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate

Position Overview

Volunteer Group Fitness Instructors play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and motivating environment for members to engage in physical activity. Volunteers deliver high-quality group fitness classes that support the health and wellness goals of participants with varying abilities, experiences, and fitness levels.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about fitness, community connection, and making a meaningful impact through service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and safely deliver assigned group fitness classes
  • Create inclusive, engaging, and supportive class environments
  • Model YMCA values and service excellence at all times
  • Build positive relationships with participants, staff, and fellow volunteers
  • Foster a sense of belonging for all participants
  • Maintain required certifications and follow YMCA policies and procedures
  • Communicate participant concerns or feedback to the Group Fitness Supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Group Fitness Certification (Yoga, Cardio & Strength, Zumba, HIIT, TRX, MOSSA or other formats)
  • Ability to instruct and adapt programming for diverse groups and fitness levels
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Acceptable Police Record Check / Vulnerable Sector Check (reviewed individually)

Support & Training

  • Orientation and onboarding provided by YMCA staff
  • Ongoing support from the Adult Program Supervisor and fitness team
  • Opportunity to gain experience in a community-focused fitness environment

Scheduling

Class schedules and time commitments will be determined based on program needs and instructor availability. Opportunities may include daytime, evening, or weekend classes.
