For more than two decades, CivicAction has brought together leaders from business, government, community, nonprofit, and institutional sectors to advance issues that no single organization can solve alone.
Position Summary
CivicAction is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to support funding research, grant development, and proposal writing activities.
Working closely with the Manager, Grant Writing and Institutional Funding, the volunteer will help identify and assess funding opportunities, support grant applications, and contribute to CivicAction's resource development efforts.
This role is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grant writing, fundraising, and nonprofit development while contributing to initiatives that create positive community impact across the GTHA.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
- Draft, edit, and coordinate grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting application materials.
- Track deadlines and maintain accurate records of grant submissions and outcomes.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines.
- Can work independently and collaboratively.
- Is comfortable using Microsoft Office and online research tools.
- Has an interest in community impact, civic engagement, public policy, or the nonprofit sector.
Experience with grant writing, fundraising, proposal writing, research, or nonprofit work is an asset but not required.
