Volunteer Opportunity as a Garden Helper with St. Mary's Home!

St. Mary’s Home is a non-profit agency providing bilingual programs and services with pregnant and parenting youth and their infants and children. We are seeking reliable volunteers to help care for our garden and fruit trees in support of our weekly food bank. Garden Helpers will assist with outdoor tasks that help keep the garden healthy and growing!

Why volunteer as a Garden Helper?

By volunteering in our garden, you’ll help provide fresh, nutritious food for our weekly food bank while supporting young families in our community. This is a great opportunity for people who enjoy being outdoors, working with plants, and contributing in a practical, hands-on way.

Responsibilities

Garden Helpers support the ongoing care of our garden and fruit trees. Tasks include watering, weeding, basic maintenance, harvesting when needed, and other seasonal garden duties. Volunteers should be dependable, comfortable with light physical outdoor work, and willing to follow garden care instructions.

Skills and Knowledge
Garden experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for volunteers who are:

• 18 and over
• Reliable and able to commit to a regular schedule
• Comfortable working outdoors in a garden setting
• Willing to help with watering, weeding, maintenance, and seasonal tasks
• Interested in supporting food security helping their community
• Experienced with gardening, fruit trees, or plant care, if possible

Garden experience is preferred, not necessary. We are happy to welcome volunteers who are eager to learn, can be counted on, and show up consistently.

Schedule

• Commitment of 1-2 hours per week
• Schedule may vary depending on garden needs, weather, and season
