
Volunteer Fundraising Team Member
What you’ll be doing
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Canada is a non-profit Charity that aims to promote health by providing people suffering from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (SJS/TEN) as well as their families and caregivers with access to related counseling, support groups and information programs.
The President, a survivor of SJS/TEN founded this organization about 10 years ago. The intention is to promote education by providing workshops, forums and seminars about the disease and its effects, to the public and medical professionals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Fundraising Campaign Planning and Execution

Assist in brainstorming and developing creative fundraising ideas.

Help design and implement online and offline fundraising campaigns.

Create and distribute promotional materials to raise awareness about fundraising efforts.
2. Event Planning and Support

Organize and execute fundraising events such as galas, charity runs, auctions, or bake sales.

Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, vendor relations, and volunteer recruitment.

Promote events through social media, email, and community outreach.

Assist on the day of the event with setup, registration, and engaging attendees.
3. Donor Outreach and Stewardship

Research and identify potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.

Assist in writing personalized thank-you notes or emails to donors.

Help maintain donor databases and track contributions.

Support ongoing relationships with donors by providing updates on the impact of their contributions.
4. Online Fundraising and Social Media Engagement

Assist in creating engaging content to promote fundraising efforts on social media platforms.

Manage peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and encourage participation.

Share impact stories to inspire donations.
5. Grant Support

Collaborate with the team to identify grant opportunities.

Assist with gathering materials for grant applications or reports.
6. Community Engagement

Act as a representative of the nonprofit, sharing its mission and goals at events and in the community.

Help secure partnerships with local businesses or organizations to support fundraising efforts.
7. Reporting and Feedback

Track and report on the success of fundraising efforts, including metrics like funds raised, attendance, and donor engagement.

Provide feedback on what worked well and areas for improvement in campaigns or events.
Key Skills and Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic organizational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Experience with social media, event planning, or donor relations is a plus
