Committee Purpose and Overall Goals
The Fundraising Committee is responsible for the development, oversight, and execution of
fundraising initiatives that support Bloom’s mission of advancing women’s leadership in the
cannabis industry.
The committee works collaboratively to ensure Bloom has the financial resources required to
sustain and grow its core programs, including mentorship, networking events, educational
webinars, research initiatives, and community-building activities.
The committee establishes ethical, transparent, and mission-aligned fundraising practices that
reflect Bloom’s values of inclusivity, professionalism, accountability, and industry leadership.
Key Responsibilities
The Fundraising Committee provides strategic direction and operational support for all
fundraising activities, including:
- Development and implementation of an annual fundraising plan aligned with Bloom’s strategic objectives
- Identification of funding opportunities including corporate sponsorships, individual donors, grants, partnerships, and event-based fundraising
- Creation and oversight of sponsorship packages and donor engagement strategies
- Participation in sponsorship outreach, relationship building, and donor cultivation
- Support of fundraising campaigns tied to key initiatives such as mentorship programming, networking events, educational sessions, and the annual survey
- Collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Committee to develop fundraising messaging, sponsorship materials, and donor recognition strategies
- Oversight of donor stewardship practices including acknowledgement, reporting, and impact updates
- Maintenance of accurate fundraising records including sponsor commitments, donor tracking, and campaign summaries
- Monitoring of fundraising performance against established targets and providing recommendations for improvement
- Support of event-based fundraising efforts including sponsorship coordination and donor engagement
- Collaboration with other Bloom committees to ensure fundraising efforts are aligned with program needs and timelines
Governance and Accountability
- The committee is accountable to the Board of Directors of Bloom
- Regular Fundraising Committee meetings are required
- Meeting minutes must be recorded and maintained
- Regular reports must be submitted to the Board of Directors, including fundraising targets, revenue progress, sponsorship updates, campaign outcomes, and identified risks or opportunities
- All fundraising activities must adhere to nonprofit governance standards and ethical fundraising practices
Qualifications and Experience for Success
- The Fundraising Committee is best supported by individuals with experience in fundraising, sponsorship development, business development, marketing, event planning, or community engagement. Preferred qualifications include:
- Charity or non-profit experience is preferred
- Experience in sponsorship outreach, donor relations, corporate partnerships, or grant writing
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Comfort engaging with industry professionals and representing Bloom externally
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a volunteer-based team
- Understanding of the cannabis industry and its professional landscape is an asset
- Commitment to advancing women’s leadership and equity in cannabis
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role requiring participation in regular committee meetings, sponsorship outreach efforts, campaign planning, and periodic reporting throughout the year.
Estimated commitment: 3–6 hours per month, with additional time during major campaigns or events.
