Organizational Overview: The Digital Sexual Violence Support Centre (DSVSC) is a non-profit that provides nation-wide peer support, workshops, research, outreach events, and policy advocacy to support adults who have experienced technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV).

Role: Volunteer Fundraising Committee Member

Reports to: Volunteer Director of Fundraising (board member)

Openings: 3-4 spots

Time commitment: 6 months (3-10 hours per month)

**10 hours per month during fundraising event months

Committee Type: Standing (meets monthly throughout the year)

Committee Mandate: The Fundraising Committee leads the DSVSC’s efforts to secure funding through grants, sponsorships, partnerships and community donation campaigns. Committee members will support donor stewardship and ensure ethical fundraising efforts that reflect a trauma and survivor-informed values and messaging.

Duties and responsibilities:

Strategic Fundraising Planning and Execution

  • Support the selection of potential venues in the Greater Toronto Area for in-person fundraising events
  • Actively participate in brainstorming and delivering fundraising events which occur both virtually and in-person (in the GTA), where possible to attend

Campaigns and Events

  • Support the promotion of fundraising events through sharing via word-of-mouth and social media (via LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok, where possible)
  • Plan and support the delivery of fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives (e.g., online giving days, awareness fundraisers, peer-to-peer campaigns)
  • Track fundraising outcomes and identify lessons learned to improve future events.

Donor and Funder Relations

  • Contact potential local, corporate and small businesses who can donate financially or offer in-kind support to the DSVSC (e.g. our website, or a cheque by mail etc.)
  • Expand the fundraising committee’s network of potential donors, sponsors, and partner organizations, by leaning on your professional connections
  • Participate in donor recognition efforts (handwritten thank you notes, thank-you calls, shout out posts etc.)
  • Document and maintain the confidentiality of donors’ records

Grants and Institutional Funding

  • Identify local, provincial, federal and corporate grants and organize them by approaching deadline
  • Collaborate with fellow fundraising committee members, DSVSC volunteers, and/or consultants to support proposal review or letters of support.
  • Monitor grant deliverables, deadlines, and reporting expectations when applicable.

Corporate and Community Partnerships

  • Support the cultivation of relationships with businesses, post-secondary schools, professional bodies (e.g. Ontario Social Work Association) and civic groups.
  • Identify mutually beneficial sponsorships or cause-marketing opportunities.
  • Represent the organization professionally at community or donor events.
  • Participate in monthly scheduled fundraising committee meetings

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Open to learning about survivors' experiences of tech-enabled sexual harms
  • Interests in mental health, community support and the prevention of sexual violence
  • Open-mindedness and willingness to connect with funders and donors
