
VOLUNTEER EDUCATION CONTENT EDITOR (REMOTE)

Content editors are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Professional Shared Services, you will lead and implement quality management activities through the creation of policies and procedures to ensure that content meets our education objectives and goals. This role will work with our team to ensure the accuracy of language and the functionality of our educational objectives and goals. The incumbent will have a strong background in editing and quality assurance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish a framework that defines and measures quality in our content materials.
- Proofread content materials and documents to ensure standardization in style, layout, design, and grammar, and adherence to editing standards.
- Review and ensure content is correct and accurate on the website and adherence to standards and templates.
- Give/receive feedback to/from internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Work with the Water Education Materials team on continuous process improvement and development of quality control tools and documentation.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail: editing materials that are high quality, grammatically correct, and error-free.
- Follow the organization and the Education group’s processes and standards.
- Work closely with project leads to keep them informed regarding project scope and timeline.
- Manage work time effectively, tracking hours and meeting deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the team members in the Water Education Materials team to ensure project success.
- Attend virtual meetings in the EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 36 hours.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in technical editing and/or quality assurance.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Publishing, etc. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered
- Strong attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task, and prioritize effectively. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and online environment.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to elicit information and provide accurate information clearly and concisely.
- Very comfortable working in a virtual team environment incorporating group problem-solving; shares information and responsibility.
- Committed to attending team meetings. Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
- Outgoing, persistent, and energetic. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle requests and complaints in a professional, non-confrontational manner.
- Creative problem-solving skills, capacity for innovation.
- Enjoy taking initiative, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.
PREFERRED:
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and lifecycle.
- Familiar with common editing standards.
- Experience in coordinating writing projects.
