Unpaid Volunteer Position
Primary Responsabilities
- Driving a 26’ and/or 20’ cube van; should have some previous experience
- On the job training will be provided by an experienced CDC Volunteer Driver, by observing the first month, than the second month by driving under the supervision of the Volunteer Driver
- Picking up the van at Discount or U-Haul and dropping it off at the end of the day
- Pick-up and delivery of product from the packing location to depots in Hastings County
- Helping to load and unload the boxes for delivery
- Helping to count/organize the boxes as they are loaded onto truck and delivered
- Making sure that boxes arrive at their destinations in good condition
- Make sure Coordinator, or assigned volunteer signs off on number of veggies and fruit boxes
- Responsible for bringing back Food Box bins to Packing Depot at end of day, place bins in stacks of 30 bins to a stack
- Must follow Ontario Highway Traffic Act
Drivers are to report any concerns/incidents directly to Volunteer Coordinator
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Good driving, A Certified Drivers Abstract is required available form from Service Ontario. A $18.00 fee applies
- Ability to lift product (30 pounds)
- Ability to work/drive with a team member
- Organizational skills
- Ability to receive direction
- Ability to maintain safe lifting practices
- Maintain and sustain a safe workplace on behalf of and in cooperation with a team
- A sense of humour and willingness to contribute to the health and well-being of community
- Must be available 7:30am to 4:30pm every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month.
