
(VOLUNTEER) Digital and Social Media Marketing and Events Specialist
About Us:
Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) is a national registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering domestic violence survivors to recover from economic abuse through advocacy, education, and policy change. We work in partnership to ensure women have access to and control over their own economic resources. We focus on four strategic priorities: public education and awareness-raising;Mental health and wellness; ensuring systems do not inadvertently facilitate economic abuse; and influencing policy. Our aim now is to ensure that policy and practice recognizes economic abuse so that victim-survivors are supported to achieve economic justice and abusers are held accountable for their behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media & Content Marketing (Hands - On - Execution)
Assist the different department Managers in executing their marketing strategies for social media, public awareness campaigns, and events.
Manage and schedule posts on Hootsuite and create engaging social media content (graphics, videos, Canadaptions, reels, stories, etc.).
Optimize content to improve engagement, reach, and brand awareness.
Work with the Communications Manager to ensure content aligns with our brand voice, values, and culture.
Respond to comments, messages, and mentions to grow engagement.
Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics to refine marketing strategies.
Research audience preferences, hashtags, trends, and best practices to enhance reach, visibility, and engagement.
Create engaging text, image and content for accounts on blog, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media platforms as required.
Marketing & Campaign Coordination
Support the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies for awareness and fundraising campaigns.
Assist in creating email newsletters, digital ads, and promotional materials.
Work with CCFWE staff with coordinating public relations and media outreach efforts, to promote campaigns and events.
Research and engage with potential influencers, partners, and local organizations for collaboration.
Track, measure and report on social media and marketing performance metrics.
Event Logistics & Website Support (Hands - On - Execution)
Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting events (workshops, fundraising initiatives, awareness panels).
Manager website updates and content (e.g., job postings, event pages, blogs, Canadampaign updates) using Elementor/WordPress, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting.
Ensure website functionality, organization, and visual consistency.
Handle event logistics, including venue coordination, registration management, scheduling, and outreach.
Liaise with vendors, partners, speakers, and volunteers to ensure smooth event execution.
Support onsite/virtual event management, including setup, guest check-in, and social media coverage.
Capture event highlights for social media (live coverage, photos, videos, interviews, etc.).
Coordinate and distribute event promotional materials before and during events.
Qualifications
2- 3 years of hands-on experience in social media and website management, marketing, and event support.
Post-Secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
Experience using social media scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Buffer etc)
Strong writing skills for creating engaging social media content,captions, posts, and promotional content.
Proficiency in Canva or similar tools for graphic design and advanced experience utilizing email marketing platforms (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.).
Excellent knowledge of social media best practices across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, etc).
Strong written communications skills and ability to create engaging and relevant content suitable for various social media platforms.
Understanding of audience targeting, segmentation, and campaign planning.
Experience with social media analytics tools to track and measure performance.
Advanced knowledge of website content management systems (Elementor, WordPress).
Assets
Experience working in a nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organization (preferred).
Good understanding of social media KPIs and use of social media analytics tools to track and measure performance.
Familiarity with web design and publishing
Graphic design skills to create visually appealing graphics, and other visual content for social media.
Strong multitasking, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Time Commitment: 5-7 hours per week (Remote)
Duration: Ongoing with expectation for at least a 6 month duration
