POSITION: Volunteer Coordinator

LOCATION: Remote

REPORTS TO: Head of Culture & Engagement

TIME COMMITMENT: 7-10 hours /week

ABOUT US:

The Community Climate Council (CCC) is a committed team of volunteers in Peel Region driven

by the urgency of the climate crisis. Through a combination of climate literacy and political

advocacy, we empower our community to push for bold climate policies and take proactive

steps toward change. Founded with the vision of creating a platform for local voices to demand

action, our work is rooted in community-led solutions. We approach every project with a focus

on collaboration, ensuring that our efforts are both community-centered and solutions-driven.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a dynamic and personable Volunteer Coordinator to support the Head of

Culture and Engagement in driving our volunteer recruitment efforts and contributing to the

overall success of the organization. In this role, you will manage the full recruitment

process—from reviewing applications and conducting interviews to supporting outreach events

that meet the evolving needs of our team. You’ll also assist the Head of Culture and

Engagement with internal coordination, including but not limited to: managing inbox, handling

correspondence, and organizing volunteer databases. Additionally, you will analyze recruitment

data to identify opportunities for improvement, recommend strategies, and help ensure

volunteers have a rewarding, engaging, and positive experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding

• Recruit volunteers in alignment with organizational needs
• Lead outreach efforts with secondary and post-secondary institutions to build

partnerships and create internship opportunities

• Screen, interview, and match volunteers to roles based on skills, interests, and availability

• Lead the onboarding process, ensuring contracts are signed and volunteers are well-informed, properly equipped, and clear on role expectations

Volunteer Cycle Coordination

• Develop and deliver volunteer orientation and role training sessions
• Serve as a primary point of contact for volunteers on administrative matters, including

policies, expectations, and concerns

• Lead the volunteer offboarding process.
• Support the Volunteer Engagement Liaison with volunteer engagement initiatives as

needed

Administrative and Internal Coordination

• Collaborate with internal departments to identify volunteer needs and support effective role placement

• Manage email correspondence with external partners and prospective/current volunteers, ensuring responses within 48 hours and escalating inquiries as needed

• Maintain accurate, organized records of volunteer information and recruitment activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Skills and Experience: ○ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build

relationships with a diverse range of volunteers and stakeholders.

○ Proven experience or demonstrated interest in volunteer engagement, HR management, or program coordination.

○ Excellent organizational and time-management skills. ○ Familiarity with database management and administrative tools, like Google

Sheets.

○ Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack & Asana. ○ Experience in event planning or community outreach is a bonus.

for active community engagement.
