VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR DESCRIPTION Volunteer Position with BECC

Do you wish to use your abilities to help make Canadian Cities more sustainable. Would you like to lead recruitment for a national organization that does this? THE OPPORTUNITY Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is looking for a volunteer to manage its national volunteer recruitment program. This person would post ads on various volunteer websites, receive and review responses, and applicants to teams across the country. In the longer term, the volunteer coordinator could create a volunteer strategy that includes orientation, personal goal setting, volunteer recognition and training ideas. BACKGROUND A Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) is an urban-centred region where teams educate and engage people in activities to develop a culture of sustainability. BEC Canada (BECC) is a national charity that supports development of BECs in Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The Volunteer Coordinator will receive general guidance from the BECC board through the Director of Administration. The Coordinator will also liaise with team leaders (eight in the BECs and four in BECC). As well, the Volunteer Coordinator will be a member of the BECC Secretariat, which includes all team leaders and develops approaches for BECC to support the BECs. COMMITMENT It is expected that the HR Coordinator would be willing to commit 4-5 hours per week for a year to this volunteer position. The time is flexible around other personal commitments.
