Volunteer Communications & Public Relations Advisor

The Volunteer Communications & Public Relations Advisor will provide strategic guidance and hands-on support to strengthen The Shoebox Project for Women’s public profile, messaging, and storytelling. This role will help ensure consistent, engaging, and mission-driven communications across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of key messages, talking points, and communications plans
• Assist with media outreach, press releases, and relationship-building with media contacts
• Provide guidance on public relations strategies during campaigns and key moments
• Review and refine written content for clarity, tone, and impact
• Advise on brand consistency across communications channels

Skills & Experience

• Experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Experience supporting nonprofit or cause-based organizations is an asset
• Strategic mindset with an understanding of audience engagement
