ORGANIZATION

Based in Toronto, Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits is a Canadian charity, 100% volunteer-led that provides management consulting to improve organizational capacity and community impact for non-profits that otherwise cannot afford professional consulting.

Endeavour has two consulting engagement rounds during the year, in the fall and in the spring. For each round, Endeavour will recruit and match teams of skilled volunteers with non-profit organizations in need of pro bono consulting.

Since 2007, Endeavour has engaged more than 1000 volunteers on over 134 projects, delivering more than $8 million in pro bono consulting to local, national and international non-profits based in Canada. Endeavour’s partnerships with leading corporations in Canada offer pro bono and skills-based volunteering opportunities that contribute to employee engagement, professional and leadership development, talent retention and corporate responsibility goals.

ROLE

Join Our Dynamic Team as a Volunteer CEO at Endeavour!

Working closely with the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic vision, leadership and management of the organization and partnerships and community relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy, Leadership and Management

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop a multi-year strategy in alignment with the organization’s vision and mission
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement the strategic plan, including the development of annual plans, budget management and reporting progress to the Board
  • Build, lead and support a cross functional Senior Leadership Team with the support of the Chief Operating Officer in the areas of Consulting, Strategic Initiatives, Talent Management, Marketing & Communications, Information Technology, Finance, Training, Alumni, and Evaluation
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of programs and operations
  • Foster a culture that reflects the vision, mission and core values of Endeavour
  • Establish and refine organizational policies and procedures as required
  • Promote the Endeavour brand within the not-for-profit industry

Governance

  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop and maintain good governance and to support board effectiveness
  • Support the Board Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Board Committees in carrying out their responsibilities

Partnerships and Community Relations

  • Ensure revenue generation and fundraising to support ongoing programs and operations
  • Develop and manage corporate and not-for-profit programs and partnerships
  • Represent Endeavour in the community as a Canadian leader in skills-based, pro bono volunteer consulting

TIME COMMITMENT

CEO is expected to dedicate approximately 8-10hours per week. There are currently:

  • Monthly SLT meetings, typically held on weekday evenings for 1.5 hour
  • Regular 1:1 meetings with Direct reports
  • Four regular Board of Directors meetings each year, typically held on weekday evenings for 1.5–2 hour

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eligibility to work in Canada
  • Excited and motivated to make a difference for the nonprofit community
  • Consulting experience and/or Endeavour volunteer experience strongly preferred
  • Skilled at remotely managing teams in a volunteer or work environment
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong initiative and results-oriented
  • Long-term commitment – expected initial three-year term, renewable
