
Volunteer Board Position
Ashley Manor Housing Corporation is looking for qualified and committed persons to sit on our Board of Directors
About Us:
Ashley Manor Housing Corporation (AMHC) is a Non-Profit Corporation that owns and operates a Social Housing portfolio of 574 rental residential units in 5 communities in Ajax Ontario. With funding and oversight by the Region of Durham, AMHC provides affordable housing for over 1,050 Ajax residents. All funding received from the Region of Durham is used by AMHC to operate and maintain our portfolio of communities in Ajax.
Main Goals:
- To provide safe and affordable homes to residents
- To collaborate and cultivate close working relationships with the key community partners to support our residents
- To raise awareness and educate the community about the impact that housing needs have on our community’s health
- To meet the accessibility needs of our residents
Application Process:
The deadline for receipt of applications is August 28, 2026. Applications are invited from the Durham Region area. We are specifically seeking candidates with combined skills and experience in:
- Accounting
- Corporate Finance
Prospective Board members should be comfortable operating within a policy-based (rather than management-focused) governance model typical of the non-profit sector. They should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the Ajax community, effectively represent the interests of social housing within the community, and ideally, reside in the area we serve.
Your application should include your resume which details your:
- Leadership skills
- Resourcefulness
- Knowledge of the social housing sector, community housing issues
- Ability to think broadly and collaboratively
- Understanding of the responsibilities of a director
- Passion and willingness to invest your time and talents in AMHC
