Volunteer Board Members

Reel Causes is a Vancouver-based non-profit that partners with filmmakers and Canadian causes dedicated to addressing global social justice issues.

We host five events a year: film screenings followed by panel discussions to educate and inspire our community, providing a forum for authentic conversation around the issues that affect us locally.

We are seeking volunteer board members to help in the following roles:

Treasurer – Manage the financial affairs of Reel Causes, specifically event-based bookkeeping. Duties will include: financial management, budget, reports and tax filing.

Membership & Community Outreach – Membership management to ensure annual members are prioritized. Research perks and opportunities for members. Outreach into the community to invite filmmakers and potential causes. Work with the fund development board member to identify sponsorship opportunities.

Marketing & Communications – Work with the Program Manager and Communications Coordinator to establish key metrics from social media, website, and email, along with strategizing for the short and long term. Google Ads experience is an asset.

Overall, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who are self-motivated and interested in film, social justice and community issues. Ideally, Candidates will have arts, non-profit, or previous board experience.

In terms of your commitment, we ask for:

• A few hours per month for self-directed tasks
• One evening per month for board meetings (excluding July/August)
• Five in-person events per year
• A one-year commitment
