VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBER(S)
This not-for-profit housing corporation is committed to providing quality residential accommodation for seniors and persons with disabilities of low to modest income. The Board meets monthly at the residence located at 220 Sinclair Ave.
Job Description
The volunteer Board of Directors, which is responsible for the governance of the corporation, is seeking new Board and Committee Members who have a strong sense of volunteerism, and who play leadership role in the communities we serve. Residences at St. Andrew’s Georgetown Corporation serves a diverse client base and welcomes applications that reflect our clientele.
Working collaboratively with the Management Team, the Board is actively involved in setting strategic priorities and goals based on the vision and mission of the organization.
The board of Residences at St. Andrews’s Georgetown Corporation is a volunteer board. Members are not paid and dedicate their time and expertise to support Residences at St. Andrew’s Georgetown Corporation and its mission and collective purpose.
Expectations of Individual Board Members
We expect each board member to:
- Understand and abide by the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs.
- Read and understand the organization’s financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings.
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Residences at St. Andrew’s Georgetown Corporation to advance its mission and collective purpose.
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve Residences at Andrew’s Georgetown Corporation mission.
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.
- Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the community our organization serves.
- Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences on to the board and into the boardroom and the organization.
We are looking for mission-aligned individuals’ who can demonstrate a combination of strong collaboration, communication, implementation, and strategic skills, a commitment to DEI, and who have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Law, finance, social justice, construction, or project management
- Social and Community Services
- Affordable Housing
- Rental Housing
- Political Advocacy
Directors are eligible to hold office for a 3-year term after which they may express interest in continuing for a second consecutive term for a maximum of 6 years in office.
